Tips for preparing your quilt

There is no need for you to pin or tack your quilt. Any pins or tacking threads must be removed before going on our machine.

Backing and batting need to be at least 6” to 8” wider than the top (ie 3” to 4” wider on each side).

For curved-edge quilts like Double Wedding Ring, the backing is still squared.

For pieced backs, make sure fabrics are square before joining.

We cannot guarantee centre placement of quilts for double-sided quilts.

Please ensure the top and backing are square and that there is no extra fabric in your borders as this may result in puckering. I will do my best, but quilt tops with these problems may still have the problems after quilting is completed.

Quilting Styles

Edge to Edge - This is a repeating pattern that goes from edge to edge of your quilt from top to bottom.

Custom - When you need the quilting patterns to fit specific areas like the blocks and borders, this calls for customising the designs to enhance the quilt. This includes using blocks, stippling, borders, stitch in the ditch and cross hatching.

Stippling – A continuous line that meanders randomly over the quilt top.
